MAGIS Service Organization is a male identifying and gender nonconforming service organization at Loyola Marymount University that focuses on issues surrounding homelessness and education.
Magis is a Latin word for "more" and has been interpreted and used in Ignatian Spirituality as "doing The More" or doing what is better for others. MAGIS Service Organization was established in 2003 under the ambition of striving to do "the more", in congruence with our 3 Pillars: Service, Diversity, and Spirituality.
Members engage in service throughout the Los Angeles Community at placements related to homelessness and education, as well as on campus social justice events revolving around these issues.
We embrace diversity by recruiting people from many different backgrounds, engaging in deep conversation on issues that raise differing opinions, and recognizing the beauty in all things.
We focus on the growth of the individual through the experiences we have, the people we encounter, and deep self reflection, always recognizing we are part of something bigger than ourselves.
